My challenge to myself – 12 books in 12 months
A friend of mine is setting a goal for herself to read 35 books in one year – beginning and commencing on her birthday, which happens to be this month. I thought it was a wonderful plan, but for it to be attainable for me, I needed to tweak it a bit. One book, once a month. Much better. And, since my birthday is this month also, that works out well too.
Now, although I do love books, I am horribly guilty of often not finishing them and usually have about 7 going at any one time. So, this is definately a challenge for me (and that’s not even taking into account that I fail miserably whenever I attempt to make resolutions or long term goals). But enough of the depressing stuff…
I’m going to do this! And if anyone would like to join me in it…please do! I’ll need all the accountability I could get, and knowing you are plodding along with me in it will encourage me to keep going. Anyone in?
Here’s my small list so far. I’m going to check out Susan Wise Bauer’s book, The Well Educated Mind from our library and mull over her suggestions before picking my 12.
Amusing Ourselves to Death Neil Postman
How to Read a Book Mortimer J. Adler
Postmillenialism Keith A. Mathison
Pride and Prejudice Jane Austen
Pssst – in the interest of full disclosure, I have started reading a few of these already. OK, all of them. :)
